Jim Panek and his son Eric from the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association – Bluff Country Chapter put Mark LaBarbera on a stand where he shot this 187 6/8 (green score) whitetail, the biggest buck ever taken at a Minnesota Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener event. MDHA, MN DNR and Explore Minnesota brought the media event, supportedby Gov. Mark Dayton, to Winona, MN this year with local tourism and chamber of commerce partners, to highlight the economic and social values of our hunting heritage.
“I used one 12 ga Lightfield Hybred slug and the buck dropped in his tracks — took out the top of both lungs, and the steep angle from the treestand down the bluff to the deer 50 yards away. The impact also sent a shock wave through the backbone”.
